5 Months!

Five Months! 14.9 lbs

Every month Isa is more and more fun to get to know. She sucks on everything including her lip, her, thumb, her foot and anything else she can get her hands on! She has learned how to stick her tongue out and make lots of noise with spit bubbles. She loves to jump, wiggle which means I never find her in the same position I left her when I put her to bed! She also loves to smile at anyone who talks to her. Even though she doesn't get a bottle very often she has mastered how to feed her self with one! This month Isa got to meet Jesus’s helper, Santa Claus and take her first road trip to San Diego with cousin Ashley and spend some time with her little cousin David Jr. and had so much fun playing with all of his toys! We discovered it is time to add a baby jumper chair to her collection of toys. Isa is still a very good sleeper and I still look forward to seeing that first smile on her face every morning.

Four Months!

Isa is now loving tummy time and likes to roll over from her tummy to her back. She hs also discovered more her thumb. Isa had her first bottle of formula on the plane ride to Ecuador she was a really good little traveler but since mommy has been back to work she has been wanting to eat more than what mommy makes. Isa has loved being in Ecuador and spending lots of time with grandma Isabel and great grandma Isabel while mommy and daddy were helping with research for BYU for a week. Isa is smiling a lot more lately and especially for daddy. Isa had become a very good sleeper there are still nights she wants to eat a couple of times but for the most part she still goes to bed at seven and wakes up once or twice at night to eat.

Three months!

Stats: aprox. 12 lbs Likes: sucking her thumb, baths, boobies. Dislikes: Tummy Time, bottles, mommy going back to work,, getting dressed Isa has continues to be such an angel baby, she is smiling all the time and especially in the morning. My favorite thing is to wake up to her bright-eyed little face. Isa has become very much a routine baby, she gets ready for bed about 6:30 and by 7pm is sleeping on most days, this has been really nice since it is harder to get things done with her during the day but its really sad for me on the days I work to come home and not be able to hug and squeeze her before I go to bed. This month Aunt Jaime came to visit and Isa got to meet her new cousin David Jr. Isa also got to go to her first ward trunk or treat dressed as a strawberry, however got to stay in on Halloween night due to her first ear infection :(

Two Months!

Stats: 22inches, 10lbs! My little baby is growing like a weed, she’s almost double her weight now at two months! I have had to put away some of her clothes that she wore at birth, it was a lot more difficult that I had anticipated it would be. Isa is starting to smile and talk in her own little way. She has been such an angel I could not have asked for a more precious baby. That is as long as mommy gets her to bed before its too late! Not only does she look just like daddy right now she gets very grumpy just like him when she doesn’t get her sleep! Daddy just bought a new video baby monitor so we can watch you when you are sleeping instead of waking you up to go in and check on you. We learned that for hours that we previously thought you were sleeping calmly you would just lay in bed and stare at the dark ceiling and smile at nothing, and when you would finally put your self to sleep we caught you a few time sleeping with your hands straight up in the air! You love going down stairs and spending time with grandma especially because you like to lay on her bed when she puts the vibrator on. We love you more and more everyday!

One Month!

At two weeks Isa weighed 7lbs 10oz! This first month was so much fun getting to know our new little baby, all of her likes and dislikes and figuring out a whole new routine. Some of her favorite things have been stretching, grunting, and making mommy clean lots of poopy clothes. It was amazing to see how quickly we could fall in love with our little sweet baby and how hard it would be to imagine life with out her.

First Born

Isabel Rilene Caceres, also known as "Sky". Isabel is after David's mom, and Rilene is after my grandmother. My baby girl was born on July 19, 2012, two days before her official due date after two long nights of contractions. After not sleeping for two nights I woke David up in tears telling him we needed to go to the hospital to get a morphine shot because i just wanted to be able to sleep. I knew my contractions were not the typical 3-5 minutes apart so I did not expect to stay at the hospital but when we got there they monitored me for an hour and because I progressed from two centimeters to three centimeters, Dr. Nance said it was ok to go ahead and keep me and get me started on pitocin. I will remember next time to make sure I get the epidural before I let the nurse start the pitocin, luckily though she was willing to give me a nice dose of fentanyl while I waited for the anesthesiologist. That was my first time receiving any real pain medication and I could easily see why people become addicted to that kinda thing it was almost an instantaneous feeling of calmness and relaxation. I remember being super nervous about the epidural as i had heard horror stories of having terrible headaches and loosing feeling in the extremities permanently, however it was not an option at this point to opt out at this point i was so tired i was ready to make them put me to sleep cause i had had it. Luckily i had a really good anesthesiologist and i barely felt a thing and it didn't make me sick at all other than the fact that i had no control over my bottom half which was awkward. Not too long after Laurie our nurse started the pitocin had i quickly progressed to a ten, i could feel the Isa was ready to come out anytime but the dr was on the way so we were just waiting with grandma Rilene, my mom, and Dad in the room. next thing i knew i looked at the the monitors and the babies heart rate was down in the 50's, i didn't think much at first i thought it would just come right back up but after a few moments i could tell the nurse was concerned she tried repositioning me and checked for a cord but nothing brought the heart rate back up the team was called in i was put on oxygen and transferred to the OR for an emergency c-section. I knew every second at this point was crucial so i stayed as calm as possible so that i didn't interrupt. When i was all set up for the c-section my dr. finally walked in and grabbed the forceps instead of doing the c-section and pulled Isa out in two pushes, i was so heavily dosed with the epidural i didn't even realized she had come out, they had taken her immediately to be resuscitated and intubated by by Gerday. She was blue with apgar scored at 1,3,5, & 7. David immediately followed the baby to the NICU. Every thing I anticipated about giving birth and seeing my baby for the first time, breast feeding and daddy cutting the cord was all taken away. Before being transferred to my recovery room i was wheeled into the nicu to see Isa for the first time, she was still a little bluish, swollen and very noticeably long and skinny with especially large hands and feet. She was on the osscilator, and was being passively cooled due to her very low ph of 6.8 at birth. She went 18 minutes before birth and about ten minutes after both with decreased oxygenation. our main concerns at this time was how this would affect her brain function. But every day Isa got better quicker and quicker than anyone had anticipated. although she had a pneumothorax from being resuscitated she was able to come off the oscillator the same day to a nasal cannula, she sucked very well on her binky, and tolerated her feeds quick enough that even though she was still fed slowly by NG tube she quickly moved up to being able to be breast fed, it took a few times but she caught on very well. She did so well that her MRI was cancelled and we were able to get her out of the NICU in 8 days.
